China 101

Hey hey guys,

Have been here for more than a week now and I’m still struggling to adjust.
Just 2 days ago I was sick and bed ridden. I was in soo much pain, I was finding it impossible to fall asleep or stay still.

But its all good now!

One of the few things I learnt on my current stay is: I have no clue how to cross the road, & Car rides will scare the **** out of you.
Drivers here will squeeze, beep, take over, beep some more, create a road, reverse drive, pretty much like Bumper car but without touching each other.

I was in a few taxi rides today, and one driver stood out very much. He would beep at all vehicles in front of him to make way and beep at anyone that is likely to merge in front of him.

When your sitting in the passenger side, cars can come at you at all directions. I feel really confused because cars can pop out from anywhere, sometimes you can see vehicles coming straight at you, head on.

Each time we cross the road, I hold on to James’ hand for dear life. At times I feel like a Deer in head lights, only thing pulling me forward is James’ hands.

James should be getting his stitches out soon, and I will hopefully find time to film a few videos. With all running out, hospital staying, sickness, shopping, finding time to film has been difficult.

Talk to you soon.

Love
Nancy.

Flight mode

Its been 4 yrs since my last flight to China, feels kinda exciting and nervous at the same time.

This time we managed to go to some shops in duty free, and I went bananas when I saw Victoria secret. I got a body spray from VS and a Loreal powder cause I was on the hunt for a bronzer but I guess getting a powder that is 2+ shades darker will do just fine. The price if items in duty free is definitely cheaper then the retail shops but I find its still affordable to purchased via internet.
The plane today is really packed and we didn’t get a window seat, but its good we are still sitting together. There was heaps of turbulence, and not able to see what’s happening out side makes the subtle vibrations all the more sensitive and worrying. I guess I’ve been watching too many plane crash documentaries.

Not sure about you guys but I miss the good old days when you get freebies on the plane. You know, the little cute cosmetic bag with a sleeping mask, tooth brush, tooth paste and if your really lucky a comb. And I remember when I first flied to Australia (we needed to change flights), the kids on board get a little cute back pack with coloring sheets, crayons and some kinda of little toy. My fav was a back pack in the shape of a little boy with its head as the opening. Ahhh, the good old days.
We’ve been on this flight for about 6 hours and it really goes to show boredom kicks in fast when there is no internet. I have eaten, slept, turned my phone on and off, been to the bathroom twice and read my book. I wanted to make a video but the engine sound is really loud and there are a lot of people walking about. On the upside, we are sitting next to our friends who are getting married over seas (Congrats guys).
James is now really bored that he is counting the hours we have left on the plane (ahh Tubulance again >.<) and twiddling this thumbs.
I’m actually writing this on words so I can post is when I get home (yay internet).

I will log off now and try to entertain James. And I’m hungry again, the girl next to me is eating an egg, how did she bring that on board????

Its now my 1st day here, omg the 13hr plane ride nearly killed me. By the 11th hour I was dying slowly inside and keeping my body up straight was a struggle. The interesting thing is our luggage didn’t get to our final destination and now I’m still wearing my dirty set of cloths, yes including my undergarments. And don’t get me started on my skin, it looked soo bad last night that you can literally hear my pores screaming for hydration and the feeling of newborn pimples.
I guess today is better, cause I had a 6hr sleep and also done a facial in the morning. However I still miss and NEED my luggage, my precious cosmetics and my fresh set of cloths.
Travelling with never feel as comfortable as being home, there is an old Chinese saying “Gold house, Silver house, nothing can beat my dog house”. I miss my lil YY very much, and is good to know she is in the care of my trusty sister.
I still feel a little drowsy, but when I close my eyes I still feel like I’m on the plane with the altitude and turbulence sways. Last night during sleep I can still hear the roaring of the engine, tis was not a good sleep.

Well that’s enough of my whine.
Hope all goes well with James’ operation.

L'Oreal Infalliable eyeshadow in Sahara Treasure

L'Oreal Infalliable eyeshadow Sahara Treasure
I have discovered this new shade from the L'Oreal Infallible La Couleur line. I first heard about this from Fluer De Force's monthly favs and was very curious about this shade because I'm on a hunt for a gold shadow that doesn't way my eyes down or age my appearance. This shade was picked up from Target which is the only place I found it at, and I believe they have more of the new shades from this range such as Goldmine.
L'Oreal Infalliable eyeshadow in Sahara Treasure
I have been loving this shade as an all over lid color, and its a perfect gold for me because it compliment my skin-tone really well and it doesn't way down my eyes. This shade is more on the subtle side, but it gives a beautiful metallic sheen under light.

From reading reviews, the metallic shades from the L'Oreal Infallible range gives the best pigmentation and bang for your buck.
I'm very interested in getting Amber Rush and Bronzed Taupe, but I gotta wait after my trip. Currently I have about 5 shades from this range, and this definitely my mostly favorite shimmer based eye-shadows.

PurMinerals 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral make up

PurMinerals 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral make up Porcelain
This product claims to be your concealer, pressed mineral makeup, finishing powder and SPF, when a product claim so much it can make the mistake of not doing any of the claims well.
I will be reviewing this product as a whole and judging this product in terms of how minerals products should perform.
I was intrigued by this product because it looked really great on Michelle Phan's videos and also its super easy to apply.
PurMinerals 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral make up Porcelain
Packaging of the product is really simple and I like the fact there is a mirror in the bottom compartment.

The product is not easily swatched by finger because its best applied with a dense brush (the Chisel brush according to the instructions), I use the Sigma F82 or F84.

When applied on the hand as you can see its a really light coverage and you can definitely see the smooth areas at where I applied it. This product will be great for those who want a even complexion or an all over radiant light coverage, definitely not for those who want full coverage.
It does definitely has the ability of pressed mineral makeup, finishing powder and SPF, but you still need a concealer for areas of undesired pigmentation.

With the SPF of 15 it does give a white caste in flash.

Pros:
  • Light weight coverage
  • Has SPF, great for outdoors
  • gives an overall glow to complexion
  • oil control
  • don't accentuate pores or fine lines
  • easy to apply
Cons:
  • not very long lasting (~4hours)
  • Packaging is kind of bulky given that I don't use the sponge applicator
  • still cant replace a concealer
To sum it up, I really enjoy this product for on-the-go fast applications because its easy and fast to apply and you cant really go wrong with it. Also I love the subtle glow that it adds to the complexion, its really a great product for hot summer days where you just want to feel light and fresh.

Until next time, bye.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Review

This product has been really popular on the Youtube world and its raved about by many gurus. So me being curious and easily marketed, wanted to give this product a try.
Initially I was turned off by the fact that the applicator was a sponge that you can't wash, but after using it for a month I really don't mind it. The description on the product say the sponge is anti-bacterial as long as you don't get water on it, and I've seen some just taking the sponge off and using like a tube concealer.
The sponge will feel a bit rough on the eyes at first, but after you get enough product on the sponge it becomes more gentle.
Coverage of the product is very similar to a corrector and its very comparable to Bobbi Brown corrector.
The consistency is very creamy (so perfect for under eyes), and its super easy to blend. Another surprise is I can go on my day without setting this concealer, it wont slip and slid and it wont smudge my mascara or eyeliner.
Pros:
  • very creamy
  • easy to apply & blend
  • great coverage (comparable to high-end Bobbi Brown corrector)
  • don't need to set
  • Don't accentuate my fine lines
Cons:
  • Can't wash sponge applicator (but you can rip it off).
  • Not a big fan of the twist up mechanism because I feel it don't push 100% of the product down. I can see some of concealer above the push mechanism, which I can never get out.
Overall I really love this product and it has replaced my Bobbi Brown corrector. I will definitely purchased again when I'm finished.

Until next time, Bye

TheBalm Mary-Lou Manizer

TheBalm Mary-Lou Manizer
theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer is one of my fav highlights as of yet. I purchased this highlight a few months back and have been really loving it.
TheBalm Mary-Lou Manizer
The product comes in a very adorable and sturdy compact with a big mirror, and its slim too (easy for storage). You will get 8.5g of product which is pretty good for a highlight.

Colour payoff/pigmentation for this product is definitely one of its biggest attributes. Its very finely milled and it gives a beautiful subtle sheen to the area applied.
TheBalm Mary-Lou Manizer swatch
It can be easily picked up with a brush, and it has virtually no fall out.
You can use this as eyeshadow too with a heavier hand. It can be a beautiful inner corner highlight or an eye-catching center lid shade.

Pros:
  • give a beautiful sheen with no chunky shimmer or glitter pieces.
  • Multi-purpose for eye too
  • Great Staying power
  • Compact packaging
  • Shade that will suit most skin tones
Cons:
  • No brush included, but I'm really nit picking here.
Overall I really enjoy this product especially for my eyes.
